Thoughtful care, shaped by

training, research, and empathetic understanding

My work is shaped by professional training, research, and experience across private practice, health, education, and community settings. I currently support adults and couples who are navigating complex emotional and relational difficulties, including the impact of trauma, abuse, coercive or controlling relationships, and longstanding patterns that interfere with well-being and connection.

I have worked with individuals and couples experiencing relationship distress, emotional dysregulation, shame, and difficulties rooted in early relational experiences. My clinical approach is grounded in schema therapy, which provides a structured and compassionate framework for understanding how early patterns develop and why they continue to shape thoughts, emotions, and relationships in adulthood. As a psychologist, I support individuals with a range of mental health challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, and OCD. I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing spiritual abuse and religious trauma, those recovering from high-control environments, those navigating complex relationships, and those experiencing moral OCD or scrupulosity.

Alongside clinical practice, I have published research examining control, attachment, and emotional regulation, and previously worked in domestic and family violence response roles. This background informs a trauma-informed, ethically grounded approach that is attentive to power, safety, and the relational context in which distress develops.

A practice shaped by

curiosity, compassion, and care

my practice

Long before my professional work as a counsellor and psychologist, I remember being a person who was deeply curious about the inner worlds of those around me. From an early age, I noticed emotional shifts, questioned why people behaved the way they did, and tried to make sense of reactions that felt confusing or disproportionate. I had a natural inclination to look for patterns and connections, and a strong desire to understand not just what was happening, but why.

As I worked across a range of settings, I consistently observed how people responded to life’s challenges, often in ways that led to further distress, confusion, strained relationships, and sometimes harm to others. While the circumstances varied, I began to recognise that patterns of behaviour and emotion were often shaped by maladaptive attempts to protect against vulnerable feelings, or against the possibility of feeling exposed, criticised, or rejected by others.

That curiosity eventually led me to study psychology. Today, as a psychologist, that same drive continues to shape my work and my interest in schema therapy. A desire to deeply understand others, and to hold complexity, has guided both my personal journey and my professional practice. It informs the way I listen, conceptualise, and work with people—with curiosity, compassion, and an appreciation for the patterns that quietly shape our responses to the world.

My practice was created to provide thoughtful psychological care that helps people understand their experiences of distress in context, and to support change, moving out of survival patterns toward greater flexibility, agency, and wellbeing. Providing a faith-sensitive approach is important to me. In my practice faith, values, and belief are never assumed or imposed, but are held with care if they are meaningful to you.

At its core, my practice exists to provide a place where patterns can be named honestly, change can be worked toward deliberately, in a way that holds the complexity of your story and any trauma and hardship you have endured. I want to help you to make make sense of your experiences and move forward in a way that is consistent with your values.
